November 09 Newsletter

The Weather Report
Hello and welcome! Another month has passed us by with glorious autumnal leaves glowing red and gold on the trees and pavement, a weaker but valiant sun, colder winds a blowing and now November is already upon us and winter settling in. We may be feeling the chill but getting cosy with old favourite woollens and recycled knits whilst gathering around open fires is always a thrill as we savour the advent of winter’s festive season and all the treats that holds.

As the year end draws nearer thoughts often turn to closure and the promise of new beginnings that a new year can bring. It is a good time to have a mental audit of what the past year has brought and taught us, how we have changed and what we will take with us into the future. At the same time, a physical sorting out of material posessions can be invaluable to moving on. It offers us the chance to recycle items we no longer want or use. Finding a new use or passing things on to others who may find them useful can offer us a much neeeded cleansing without the guilt of adding to physical and emotional landfills that surround us. It will be far easier to start the new year positively if this year’s baggage has already been recycled!

New Artists
We have taken on board two new artists in the last few weeks and as usual their designs are available for the special introductory offer price of £5.99 per clock throughout November.

W. Baker is a photographer who enjoys taking pictures of nature. The two images currently available are Tarantula – a suprisingly gentle take on this often feared creature and Butterfly – a beautiful study of what appears to be a tortoiseshell.

W Baker says: “Currently living in the UK, I take pictures of anything I think is worth photographing, from landscapes to animals and flowers. I would love to work more with photography and i hope you enjoy my images.”

Social Butterfly is a graphic designer from Lebanon who is inspired by music. There are 6 clock designs available fron this artist. 4 are variations of the same scene of an elderly gentleman walking with stick and glasses. Each design uses a different digital effect to create varying moods. The other 2 are images of a violin and rose, one more abstracted than the other to give an other worldly feel.

Social Butterfly says: “I’m a graphic designer, painter & photographer (my hobbies). Most of my designs at university were inspired from music since it’s my favorite hobby and can’t imagine my life without it, but I also like to design anything that comes to my mind depending on the occasion. Lebanon is my native country that is known for its 4 seasons and the nearness of the sea and the mountain which inspired me with its Eastern style for photography. Hope you will like my clock designs.”

We are always seeking new and exciting artists, designers and photographers who would like their images and works of art displayed on our clock faces. If you would like to join our ever expanding group, apply to submit your own images here.
